Have had the same experience as other posters with the booklet function
randomizing page sequence. Once post suggested a url for hints but this page
is no longer valid. Can someone suggest a definitive site for finding out how
to work this dilemma? I am (of course) under a pretty tight deadline to have
a camera ready to the printer.

Depends what you mean by randomizing. Obviously, when you print as a
booklet, the pages are not in numerical order but the order that will result
in a correctly ordered booklet when you duplex the pages and fold them into
a booklet.

Sorry that I was not clear in my post -- the page numbers do not appear in
the correct sequence when the pages are duplexed and folded into a booklet.
When I researched this issue, I saw several other postings that this feature
(book fold) does not work properly in Word 2007 and I am looking for a
workaround.

I am able to get Word 2007 to booklet print but only if the size of each page
is 5.5 x 8.5 with each page taking up 1/2 of a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper in
landscape mode. What I want is to print so that each the two side-by-side
pages are in portrait, each page being approx. 4 1/4 by 5 1/2, taking up 1/2
of the piece of paper. The link provided and many of the postings I've looked
at don't answer the question about controlling final page size. I would be
happy to be able to do that. But what I really want is that when printed in
duplex portrait, I would be able to cut the printouts in half and end up with
two booklets, with each page 3.5 x 5.5. In other words, the first physical
page would have at the top left page 100 (yeah, it's a 100 page booklet), and
top right is page 1. Bottom of first physical page is page 100 on bottom
left, and page 1 on bottom right. Cut in half, stitch staple, fold, and viola
2 100 page booklets.

I hope that this is clear - I realize that I may end up feeding the paper
back through a second time turned around to print the bottom half of each
page.

Not sure how to set up Page size--is it 3.5 x 5.5 (the final actual size of
each page), or is it 7 x 5.5 (the size of two pages that will be folded) and
would it be landscape or portrait? So many questions, so little time.

If you're willing to print half and then flip and print the other end, you
*might* be able to do this by telling word the paper is landscape 5.5 x 7
(the pages will then by 3.5 by 5.5), provided your printer is cooperative.
But there's no way to make Word print the booklet twice at the same time.

Thanks -- I ended up giving up earlier today. I could not get control of the
page size I wanted. At 5.5 x 7 my printer would not cooperate, so I couldn't
even get it to print out the one copy in the size I wanted, let alone 2-up. A
very frustrating and time consuming experience.
