Created single name domain, need to change it to domain.lan now???

Well, for two days I've been trying to setup a trust between two forests
(7 others work correctly).

The problem forest is a single name (domain, not domain.lan or anything
else, just the single name). There are about 20 users running on this DC
and there are lots of shares with all sorts of permissions setup for
them. Each user has a roaming profile, redirected folders, and a home
directory as well as belonging to several created security groups.

I've determined that I can not create a trust between a Windows 2003
server at locA.company.lan and a Windows 2000 server at locBcompany.
Nothing I do will allow it to authenticate with the locA network. DNS is
up and running adn both DNS services see the other and can pull the
secondary information to each.

So, now the hard part, is there a tool that will let me export everyone,
their groups, their permissions, etc... and when I create a new domain,
with a proper name, where I can easily import/configure them?

Thanks

Microsoft had a free utility ADMT, which might assist you in this. It is
available freely on there site.

Thanks - I just downloaded it and will see if it can help. I think the
issue is that I want to migrate the settings/users from a badly named
forest on a server to the same server with a new forest name. I can't
imagine this is going to be easy. Even worse, I need to do it remotely
:)
