Created CD will not play in home CD player

I saved music from a cd to my computer. I then tried to copy that music to
another cd so that I could play it on my home cd player and car cd player.
When I put the cd into the player, it doens't play or recognize anything on
the cd. However I can play it on my PC. Any suggestions?

You've burnt an MP3/Data CD rather than a traditional music/audio CD.

What software did you create the CD with?

Many older CD players will not play CD-R's no matter what the format. Newer
players may play CDA (music cd's) but not data (mp3, wma) disks. Unless your
CD player specifically states that it will play the newer disks it won't.

I copied it using Real Player and I also tried it using Windows Media Player,
but neither seemed to work. I tried playing the cd in both home stereos,
nothing took.

And do you know what sort of CD (data or music) you were creating at the
time? WMP does and Real Player likely will also tell you.

I have the same problem...I am using Windows Media Player...the funny thing
is before I upgraded (was prompted to do so) it worked fine coping and
playing on any CD in the home and car! Now I have to "rip" then "burn" and it
seems to go fast but it doesnt do any closing or finlaizing ext?? I can put
the burned cd in the computer and it plays but no place else? CAN any one
help? Am I missing a step??

Thank you for this link. I am using a CD-RW and that may be a problem. I
know I have been given copies of audio cd's that I can play on any cd player
- and most of those cd's are CD-R only.
When I use Windows Media Player - I am chosing the option to copy/make an
Audio CD. So I'll see if it works for a different type of CD.

Thanks for your response. I am using Windows Media Player and I selected to
burn an audio cd. I am using a CD-RW and hoping that may be the problem. I am
going to give it another try with a CD-R only, and I'll see what happens.
