Create seconf user in Windows XP does not work

R

My son has Windows XP, a Modem Westall Model 2200, a D-link router DI624 and
a D-link card D-Link Air Plus DWL-G520. He uses Verizon.net for his
provider.

He also has 4 computers in the house. All work fine except the 1, where he
created a second user name.

Now, when he is on this latter computer and wants to go to the second user,
he always has to shut down and start up from the beginning and then chose
the second user.
It seems to me, he should be able to do that without having to totally start
from fresh.

What is the problem and hopefully answer.?

Thanks for any help.

Click Start >> Control panel >> User Accounts >> Change the Way User Log ON
and Log OFF.
There you will find a check Box labelled:
[ ] Use Fast User Switching <= Please check this Check box and click on [
Apply Options..] Button and Reboot the machine.
Try to switch from that account to the other.
HTH.

Are you saying the 'logoff' option is failing? or do you mean he wants to
use 'fast user switching'?

To log off from the computer

Click Start, click Log off, and then click Log off.
When you log off from the computer, you close your user account but the
computer remains on for easy access the next time you log on.

for fast user switching

start/run, type:
HH ms-its:%windir%\Help\usercpl.chm::/UA_Shut_Down_Programs_at_Logoff_W.htm
