Create cloud shape with text

I would like to create a new shape that will accept text like the cloud
callout shape but without the trailing bubbles. Is it possible to add shapes
to the list of available shapes?

You don't mention your version but you probably already have the cloud shape.

2002/3 Autoshapes > More Autoshapes
2007 it's in Insert > Shapes

If you are using PowerPoint 2007, there is a built-in Cloud shape in Basic
Shapes section. The one with trailing bubbles is in the Callout section.

If you are using a previous version of PowerPoint, you can follow these
steps:
1. Insert the could shape with trailing bubbles from the Callout section.
2. Right-click the shape and select "Save as Picture..." menu item.
3. Save the picture with .emf as the "Save as type".
4. In PowerPoint, select "Insert" | "Picture" | "From File..." menu item.
5. Locate and select your saved .emf picture and click OK.
6. Right-click the shape and select "Grouping" | "Ungroup" menu item.
7. You may be asked to convert the shape to Microsoft drawing - click Yes.
8. Again right-click the shape and select "Grouping" | "Ungroup" menu item.
9. Now you can delete the trailing bubbles and regroup the remaining shapes
to get your cloud.

You can use the cloud call out, but customize it a bit. Create a cloud
about the size and shape you want. Drag the yellow handle far out of the
way (the dots need to be separate from the cloud). Now select the cloud and
cut it (Ctl + X) . Now paste special it back in as a EMF. Select it again
and ungroup twice. Now you can select the dots and delete them. Then
select the cloud and regroup it. As for the text, you may need to format
the group to accept text but centered both horizontally and vertically.
