create chapter points where i want them?

hi, i am competent on a pc but new to movie making... (i have windows vista)

i have created a movie using windows movie maker. i want each scene i
created to be a chapter on the scene selector once burned onto a dvd -- but,
that is not what is happening.

from doing a search on this message board on 'chapter,' it seems as though i
need dvd authoring software instead of using wmm? is that correct, or, am i
off on this also? i am new to video and am trying to figure out the basics.

not sure what to do next? please advise

thanks much!

Maybe the following thread will offer some ideas:

thanks for the info, John.

Is creating a separate project for each intended chapter the only way for me
to determine where the chapters are versus WMM automatically determining
where the chapters are? That process would be extremely time consuming
considering how many chapters I would like (I would like a chapter for each
separate video clip and have many clips).

Is there another program which would allow me to create chapters?

thanks!

I guess you'll have to try some of the
commercial authoring programs.

I suppose you can't criticize anything that's free but it beats me why
MS would sabotage an otherwise very nice piece of software like WMM
by omitting something as essential as being able to manually mark
chapters. When I first tried WMM, I was stunned! What exactly were
they thinking? Surely it wasn't cheaper or easier to design the
program with the dumb "intelligent" chapter-marking system.
I suppose other stupid mistakes people make are worse than
that one, but right now I can't think of any.
