CRCDISK.SYS error lockup

I finally got VISTA to start installing (of 3 machines, only one would get
past the first re-boot sequence on upgrade)

This time when the system boots it hangs on crcdisk.sys. I have a standard
gateway GT-5028 (AMD Dual x64, 2 Gigs Ram, EIDE HD that came with the system)
Anyone having the same problem or have any ideas?

I am having the same problem on my system. Blue screens when trying to boot.
Tried safe mode and the last file it trys to load is crcdisk.sys. I'm
running an Intel 3.4HT on Intel 915PBL mobo. Any word on a resolution yet?

Same issue here.

I was able to install Vista, although it took darn near forever, but when I
tried to the boot the OS I blue screen repeatedly. I've tried all different
options available to me in the F8 screen to no avail. The crash occurs when
loading crcdisk.sys.

Google searches indicate that this may be a problem with SATA drives. The
OS is NOT installed on a SATA drive but I have a secondary 160gb Maxtor SATA
(early gen drive, *shrug I'm an early adopter /shrug*.

I'm going to upgrade firmware on the BIOS and system board (Intel PERL865D)
and see if I'm able to make any progress.

I too am having the same problem. It gets to crcdisk.sys and crashes and then
reboots. I have tried all F8 options and have verified that my USB Hard Drive
is selected in the 4th order of boot sequence in the BIOS.

I have not seen any type of feed back on this other than initial problem,
(crcdisk.sys), with 5 posts now on the subject matter.

Anyone that has seen this and resolved the issue please post for others to
bennifit. I am affraid if I can't load this and register it that I will not
receive Vista RC1. (Which could resolve this issue since the Windows Upgrade
Advisor says I should have no problems Installing any version of Windows
Vista).

crcdisk.sys is ALWAYS the last driver loaded in safe mode as far as I can
tell. I have no conflicts/hardware/device driver issues on my pc, so I have
booted into safe mode a few times to see what the fuss is about, and that is
always the last file loaded before safe mode starts correctly.

Your crashes are caused by either a hardware or device driver error.

Anyone attempting to boot Vista from a USB device will fail. Vista cannot
boot from a USB device.

Try disabling the system from automatically restarting so you can catch the
dreaded blue screen and the error code. There is an option for this on the
safe mode menu.

I've got the memory dump as well as the boot logs that were generated as a
result of this crcdisk.sys problem we've all experienced. Just not sure how
I go about delivering this info to MS; if anyone is familiar with the
procedure for doing this please let me know.
