Crashing when viewing thumbnail files in Explorer

HI all,

Can you pls help me?
Lately my Windows Explorer has started to crash when I only
go into certain directories. These directories contain
movie files, picture etc. The thumbnail option is turned
on. Could the crashing be cause by the huge file sizes?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Yes. But most importantly this has to do with the way Explorer views files.
Some have resorted to viewing via the desktop. Good luck!

It is more likely caused by Explorer looking into the files when you
open a folder, to look for the extra info about Properties - like
resolution, frame rate, etc. And with some, especially AVI ones, gets
in a loop or crashes. It seems to happen particularly if the DivX
codec (that came out after XP) has been used.

It may be best for people with a lot of these files to do without the
extra property info - Start - run - regedit.exe, open to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler

highlight that and delete it
