Crash during system restore

I recieved some type of stop error right in the middle of a system restore.
Can't boot to windows or safe mode. Am I totally screwed, or is there a way
to get the system to boot up again without a complete reinstall? There are
some files I really need on that drive.
 
I Just spent over 2 hours looking for my WinXP cd, so far no luck. Any
other ideas meanwhile? lol
 
I can't find my XP CD, does anyone have any ideas? I did find the start up
disks, but never used them to try and recover a crashed system before.
