Duh?

A Celeron 2.4 GHz is basically a P4 with a smaller cache.

But, despite a smaller cache, the brute speed of the Celeron be
faster?

This isnt' strictly true

Typing in word on a faster Celeron would undoubtedly be faster, but CPU
intensive tasks benefit from the extra cache on a P4
