CPU recognition

Help please,

I'm sure I have seen the answer to this problem online but can't remember
where, so apologies before I start.

System: ECS K7VZA v1.0 motherboard, 512MB SDRAM, 20GB HDD, GF5200 VGA card.

Have recently purchased a Duron 1300Mhz CPU to replace my ageing 750Mhz and
all works well with the exception that on booting up the PC recognises the
new CPU as am ATHLON running at 20Mhz. The old CPU was recognised as a
Duron running at 750Mhz.

Any useful advice would be very welcome especially if this is a problem that
might be slowing things down.
