Hello,

Recently I've installed a normal webserver (Win 2003 Prof.)
The machine has a Pentium IV processor, 2 hard discs (120GB) and a Fasttrak
100 Raid controller.

The machine is running, problem is that the system displays that it has 2
CPU's which is wrong.

Is there anybody who has some experience or advice about this mystery?

Thanks in advance,

Remco

You must have one of the newer "hyperthreading" P4 CPUs which will appear to
the O/S (Windows XP and higher) as 2 separate CPUs. Look up Intel's press
releases on hyperthreading for details.

Actually, NT4 and higher.

Don't know about NT3.x - haven't tried that golden
oldie with an HT cpu. :-)

Thanks,

Is there a tool to get more information about the system then just getting
basic info by Device Manager.
I can't access the BIOS because the server is physically somewhere else in
the country.

If I use just 1 virtual CPU and thread priority low, then the system crashes
while executing large processes like zipping of a few hundred MB's of files.
What tool should I use to figure out what is causing the problem?

Greets,

Remco
