CPU Heat?

Is there any software out there that can detect CPU heat and turn
machine off when heat is excessive?

Thanks

Look on the mobo maker's web site (or check the software CD that came
with it) as they probably provide their own temperature and fan speed
monitor software.

Or use Speedfan (and be willing to dig into what it detects to make sure
it finds the CPU and case temps and the fan speeds, too.

I have a ASUS P4B533-VM MOBO, and don't see any mention of temperature
monitoring. Fan speed either.

I'll try to find 'speedfan' and download it to see what it does.

I don't see where Speedfan will shut my machine down at a threshold,
Did I miss it?

Thanks

OhOh

Speedfan says temp1 is on fire at 130F. How do I determine what temp
that is? I hope it is not the CPU.

Thanks

130F = 54C, not on fire at all, the typical CPU runs that
hot at full load.

I downloaded MBM and installed it. So far I don't see that it will
shut my machine down if temp reaches a temperature level - nor do I
see a place to set that to be done. Am I missing it?

Yes, that's the main problem with MBM, the user interface isnt that intuitive.

Probe should be on the motherboard CD, it does that stuff.

Thats the easiest one to use if it can find the temperature sensors properly.

After you determine which version your boards supports
(checking what is on the motherboard CD), Asus PCProbe
and/or (Asus) PCProbe II, you might want to check on newer
versions, via Google search or on Asus' website.
