CPU goes into Sleep Mode while Gaming

Hello, I have a brand new CPU 22 inch Flat Screen Monitor and installed a
Geforce 8600 GTS graphcis card. I play a game for 10 minutes than it send my
monitor into sleep mode. I have disabled all the sleep mode and hibernation
settings but that hasnt worked. Sadly it makes me turn off my cpu and have
to turn it back on, now that sucks when playing someone online. Does anyone
know how to fix this? Is it just a Vista issue should I go back to XP?

Sounds to me like the machine is locking up, probably due to a hardware
issue. Especially if it is always around X number of minutes while playing
a game. And as such is unrelated to sleep mode.

I installed a 22 inch monitor and installed the driver and software
from the CD. I started having the monitor go to sleep. Removed the
software but kept the driver and everything runs fine now.

I'd get the updated drivers from Nvidia as well.

Also, check to see that the monitor is set to native
resolution

it is a brand new cpu, and I have made sure to update nvidia drivers and
check for current driver updates for my HP gear.
