CPU-Fan

Hi,
I am using P4C800 Deluxe with Pent.IV 2.6GH(boxed).
The temperature shown in Bios and AsusProbe shows the CPU-Temp. also in cold
status about 15°C higher than the motherboard-temp!
(when starting: cpu 45°C mb 29°). May be therefore the CPU fan is runnibg
about 3150/min and very noisy! the Q-Fan is only sometimes workin and
sometimes not! Should I change the Motherboard? or use a program like
speedfan?
Thanks for help

Don't bother with Q-Fan. IMO it is a waste of time. It runs the CPU fan so
slowly on boot up that the bios fan speed shows up in RED, and it doesn't
speed up the CPU fan until the CPU temp is about 48C (with the CPU still
idle!) which is way too hot for my liking.

The stock Fan runs @ 2500-2600rpm max. You are right it is noisy, but thats
just because most of the air is just being bounced off a flat lump of
aluminium.

You'd be better off getting a decent Copper HSF (such as the Thermalright
SP94) and sticking a 92mm fan on that if you want decent cooling.

Use Motherboard Monitor to keep an eye on your temps, and get a fanbus if
you want to vary the fan speeds.

Stu.
