cp_805.nls error

I just installed Windows XP on a fresh Hard Drive, installed all the updates,
and additional software. Everythig installed fine. Then the next day, it
wouldn't boot, so now I'm doing a repair/reinstall. I can go through the
first part, but after it reboots the computer, it gives me this error"

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\System32\cp_805.nls

How can I repair this file?

1st off - bad humour
2nd off - My browser didn't show anything after 15 minutes of hitting the
refresh button - Naturally I thought my post didn't go through. So I posted
again. Sorry about that - no need to "flame" until you know the facts.

3rd off - I still need help with the problem

This is the USENET, and we don't need no stinkin' facts to flame here!

Good luck on that.

Moses,

Which thread what you like to have the answer in ?
If it's this one, then boot to Safe Mode and then copy the file from
WINDOWS\system32\dllcache to
WINDOWS\system32
Restart the system.
If you'd like the answer in your first thread ...

Moses -> Not trying to be serious here - The "flame" comment was in regards
to the "Burning bush" comment - My attempt at humour - also probably bad

Good luck on that.
Moses -> Thanks

You obviously don't know what subjective means.
Moses -> Not trying to be serious here -

Neither was I. My reply was a play on the line "we don't need no
stinkin' badges" from the Bogie movie, Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
The "flame" comment was in
regards to the "Burning bush" comment - My attempt at humour - also
probably bad

I was understandable.
Moses -> Thanks

This thread will be fine

I can't boot into Safe Mode
It gets a quarter way through the list of loading things and the error comes
up again
One of the things it trys to load is cp-850.nls. Then it tells me to
attempt a repair by starting Windows Setup from the original CD-ROM.

Rather a vicious cycle, eh ? Try booting to the Recovery Console and
then copy the file from the dllcache over to system32 :

Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314058

If you do not have a Windows CD but, an OEM "Recovery CD", you can
run the Recovery Console from XP floppy setup disks, but you need
another PC to do that since yours will not boot :
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310994

You could *attempt* to run System Restore from a Command Prompt :
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304449

The file you've cited is c_850.nls, a Multilingual (Latin I)
National Language Services driver (font or font map). Is one of the
softwares you've installed related to languages ? If so, then rolling
the system back to just prior to installing it may resolve the issue.
Try doing so from a Command Prompt.
