Coupon-in-the-box? ATI 9600XT

I have just opened my ATI 9600XT purchased at Best Buy and there is no
"physical" coupon for Half-Life 2 inside the box. Is the coupon printable
or otherwise rendered when you register the product?

Thanks,

Interesting.......I have heard of people being given these coupons from
other boxes by Best(?) Buy employees when Best(?) Buy mistakenly advertised
the 9800 non-Pro with the free game. The 9800 non-Pro is not on the ATI
website list for this promotion!

Return the 9600XT and politely demand the coupon or a full refund for
selling a box as new that has most likely been opened to remove the coupon.

Be careful or they might try to accuse you of trying to get more than one
coupon. If they do ask them how that would work since each coupon requires a
*unique* serial number from one of the authorized products. A second coupon
would be difficult, if not impossible, to redeem.

Good luck........I hope the return/refund/exchange/whatever is easy and
hassle free.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.

Thanks for the reply. I have researched the ATI website and they refer to a
"scratch-off" device that reveals the coupon code. There is no other
paperwork in the box, so I may have fallen victim to your suggestion...

I will post result of my visit to the store.

I purchased a Radeon 9600XT from BestBuy and it had the coupon. I returned
that one and got a PowerColor from Futurepc.com that didn't. Their
explanation was that Valve was running short of coupons and they had to mail
me one. It seems thath a lot of boxes are being shipped by manufacturers
without the coupon.

Returned the card to Best Buy without an issue. Unfortunately, they had no
more in stock. Guess I will look around a bit more. No rush, it seems, as
HL2 is not due out for a while.

Thanks again for the feedback. I am posting to a new thread a question on
the Asus branded 9600XT chipset, so please feel free to comment on that, as
well.

The Radeon XT series retails in both a FULL and LITE version. The
RETAIL-LITE version apparently isn't supposed to ship with a Half Life 2
coupon. Only the FULL RETAIL version does.
