Country Settings

Upon trying to sign up for two sites, I'm getting errors saying that I'm not
located in their current list of supported countries, which I am (USA). I've
done a Mcafee scan, spyware S & D, adware s.e., along with checking a variety
of my computer settings and DSL settings. Anyone have any ideas what is
happening and how do sites recognize which country you are from (IP address?)?

Some sites try to determine where you are by looking at your IP address.
Unfortunately this is not an exact science.

I suggest you email the site and ask them. Its probably them at fault, not
you.
