COUNTIF for single word in text

How can i COUNTIF for the word "travel" in a cell which reads, "travel status
thru 6-1-07" or the like?
thanks!
 
There are a few ways to do this. Here is the most generic way for a range of
cells:

=COUNTIF(A1:A10,"*travel*")
