Count the columns from one sheet and paste it in another sheet

Hi,

I want to count the values in a column from one sheet and paste the values in another sheet.
For ex: i have list of fruits in one column like orange apple.
I want to count how many orange is there in that column and paste the number in another sheet.
I have tried creating formulas but counting from one sheet and paste it in another sheet doesn't work.
Any help is appreciated.
