Coumputer names in workgroup list

My XP coputer seem to have a mind of it's own when it
comes to listing computers on our network---I insists on
listing the type of computer (windows 98 etc) BEFORE the
computer's name
example: Windows98(companycomputer1)
WindowsME(companycomputer2)
I don't need to know what kind of computer the others are,
just what their "Name" is

How do I make XP do what I want it to do -- not what
it/Microsoft programers want it to do?
