Corruption on Access 2002

Hello,

I need some professional help here. I am using Access 2002 I splited the
database making a front end and a back end. The front and back end resides
on a server in California, recently on a trip to the east coast I wanted our
east coast branch to have access to this database, which they do now have,
but it took more then 40 seconds to open up a form. Some how I believe a
user did not wait for the the access to close properly and a corruption
occured. I believe I identify which form was corrupted. I created a
workgroup and password protected the front end and created a short cut on
each individual PC. Now my user both the west and east coast can't access
the database. Now how in the world without doing the whole routine in
creating new workgroup or starting over and creating new passwords I can
recover from this. I tired to go in and deleted the corrupted form in the
front end, but Access 2002 would not allow that. Can someone helped me
recover from this without the hassle re-implementing security. All I want
to do is recover the database and retain all the passwords that I
implemented. Any tips or website to visit I would appreciate. Thank you in
advance.

Have you tried compact and repair? The reason you experienced this
corruption is highly likely to be the sharing of a FE. All of your users
should (IMO) have their own copy of the FE to minimise the risk of such
corruption.

Opening an Access database that resides on a server in California from
a computer on the east coast (using a WAN link) is not recommended.
Corruption of the database can easily occur due to the intermittent
nature of a WAN link. You should consider using Replication, or a
web-based solution, or a true client-server solution.
Straight-out-of-the-box Access is not a good solution in your
situation.
