corrupted "Use Default" home page URL

When going to Tools/Internet Options and investigating
my "Use Default" button on my Home Page selection box, the
selection (which is supposed to be the Home Page I set up
when I installed IE) has been corrupted.

How can I reset it (I desire it to be www.msn.com)without
having to reinstall IE?
 
In what way has it been corrupted? Can't you enter www.msn.com and click
Apply?

Can you give more detail description of the problem?
