I have a link to an external file. (The link opens a LAN Test in LXR). I have
successfully used this technique for some time. Recently the links became
corrupted. The link has a series of back slashes and dots in front of it
(e.g. \..\..\..\) I can correct the link and it looks fine and works fine
until I save the presentation, and then it becomes corrupted again. Anyone
have any ideas?

Try turning fast saves off. Go to Tools > Options > Save.
Under the Save tab, uncheck "Allow fast saves". Fast saves may results in
corrupted presentation.
Try fixing the link again and save your presentation. See if it gets
corrupted this time round.

You can also try downloading the Sequential Save add-in, you can click on
the link and obtain more information from here:

In addition to tohlz's suggestions, have a look at File, Properties, the Summary
tab. Try removing any text from the "Hyperlink base:" text box and re-saving
the presentation.
