Corrupted JPEG images only on the A drive

I have reason to believe that my PC is affected with the
W32/Perrun virus.
My floppy drive seems to be under some transparent
program that's causing my JPEG images to become corrupt.
After I copy a JPEG file from my hard drive to a floppy
and then play the floppy with any of my viewer, the
images are initially fine, but when I eject the floppy
and re-insert it and then display the image on any
viewer, my images are then corrupt. Occasionally when I
eject and re-insert the floppy some of the images seems
to have correct itself.
Also when I am signed-on to AOL and initiate Internet
Explorer, the floppy drive will come on as though it's
trying to access the drive even though there is no disk
in the drive.
My jpeg images on my hard drive have not been affected
and I have not attempted to copy any JPEGs from the A
drive to the hard drive for fear that if it is a virus it
may spread.
Does this seem to be the W32/Perrun virus to you?
If it is, what can I do?

Thank you,

Ed

If you run a full system virus scan using the most
recent definitions you should be able to identify
any virus that is present on your system.

Here's some info on the W32.Perrun virus but
your description of problems doesn't indicate
a virus IMHO.

I would suspect a problem with the 3.5" floppy
drive. Maybe it needs cleaning or replacing.

Might be worth a try to go to Device Manager
and run the troubleshooter for your floppy drive.

I took your suggestion and bought and installed a new
floppy drive and I get the same thing. I was using Norton
Antivirus and I updated it. Then I un-installed Norton and
installed McAfee with all the new updates to the dat file
and still no virus detected.
I also went to the McAfee site and ran the test for
W32/Perrun virus and it didn't detect any virus.
The strange thing is when I first copy the pictures from
my hard drive onto the floppy they are ok, when I eject
the floppy and re-insert it and run the viewer then one or
more pictures are distorted. Sometimes when I eject and re-
insert the floppy after they have been distorted, they are
changed back to normal.
I've ran disk checks and trouble shooting routines and
nothing seems to address the problem.

I think you have thoroughly ruled out the possibility
of a virus. I wonder if the following links would offer

KazaaBegone took care of the problem. Kazaa had installed
hidden files and programs on my PC that uninstall didn't
get rid of and one of the programs was some sort of
trojian. Thank you for your reply.
