Corrupted file - Excel

Can anyone help me to restore a corrupted Excel file? I checked and it's the
only file I can't open. I've tried opening it in Safe Mode, tried using
Word, tried Excel Viewer... it's an important file that I didn't backup
(ugh!!!! That'll teach me). And it's the only one corrupted on my drive.

When I try to open it in Excel... the progress bar goes almost complete, and
then the following error message appears - only for this file:

EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module MSO9.DLL at 0167:308cfad5.

This isn't the Excel newsgroup..but try this:

File, Open

Select the corrupted file

On the bottom right you will see the "Open" option along with a down
arrow..click on the down arrow and choose "Open and Repair".

When you have it repaired be sure to save it either as a new document or
back to that file.

Good luck!

I think this Open & repair is only on newish versions of excel (2002 and
later I believe). Here is a link to an answer to a similar question on a
newsgroup recently.

I also think I have heard that open office, another spreadsheet programme is
quite good at opening excel spreadsheets which may have been corrupted.
Good luck,
Barbara
