Corrupted Dos Boot screen

What is the name of the dos boot screen so I can either edit it or delete it
and have Windows recreate it at the next restart?

Windows XP *is* the operating system. It does not include any version
of MS-DOS.

So which "boot screen" are you asking about?
 
Probably the one seen by running cmd.exe.
