Corrupt Profiles, rstrui.exe and scrrun.dll missing

I recently updated my MSN premium 8 software to the 8.5.
After rebooting, I have had repeat trouble with my
computer. At ever reboot, my profiles are "corrupted" an
unaccessible. I tried System Restore but got the message
that XP was unable to locate rstrui.exe or scrrun.dll. I
have used Norton's website to scan my computer for viruses
and there are not any. I'm at a loss. HELP ANYONE?

Try rebooting into safe mode. Restart the computer and tap the F8 key
repeatedly till you get the menu that includes safe mode. Try that. If
it lets you in run system restore from there. If it still won't work
restart and use the F8 key again but this time choose safe mode with
command prompt. Then try to run system restore from the command line.
Type in:

C:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
then press Enter
