corrupt icon text

A friend of mine called and said their power went out and when she booted
her pc, the text for all icon was messed up. Said it looks like when you
open a none text file in word pad, the little square boxes.

The text is this way on the desktop icon, control panel icons, start menu
icons, all over.

Question, does desktop.ini hold the text info...? Or has anybody seen this
problem. The pc works fine just no readable text.

Window xp home sp2
Thanks much.

No

They have a Font problem - trouble is how do you fix it if you can't
read anything.

Control Panel / Regional and language Options/advanced.
Make sure it's set to US -

This is just a suggestion, not sure if it will even fix their problem.

Cool clip, and thanks for the reply.
Got it fixed, hard when you can't see.
The xp system was looking at no font file, changed it to point at system and
all back to normal. Later on.
