Corrupt File....

Ok I have Microsoft Works Word Processor and I can't open my document. I don't have Word and I'm not trying to open it in word. It was created in Microsoft Works Word Processor and it says "maybe in use by another application, file format may not be supported by any of the installed converters or file may be corrupt." Is there anyway to fix this to get my document back ?
