Corrupt contacts folder?

J

Jim Ihrke

Has anyone run across an issue when clicking on the
contacts folder in outlook that it immediately creates an
error message and restarts. I believe that the folder
must be corrupt, but because it is a "special" folder I
cannot delete it and recreate it. If it is a corrupt
contact, I cant get in the folder to delete it. How can
I delete the contacts folder or is there a better
solution. I am using Exchange 2000 on Win 2000 Server
and Outlook XP as the client. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Jim

Try finding the file scanpst.exe using search for files.
Run that exe program to repair the PST file in
c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\outlook pst.

This will repair the file and outlook could be up and
running.

Rudra,

Thanks for your reply however the problem that I am
having is that the contacts are stored on the server not
a in a pst file.

thanks Jim

Anyone else having this problem? If so, may want to run isinteg on the
private store to check for inconsistencies.
Anybody backing up the M drive or running file-level AV software against it?

If she's the only one having this problem, can you export her mailbox out to
PST using Exmerge on the server? It won't export anything that's
corrupted....then you could delete/recreate the mailbox for her and import
the PST file.
