Hi -

I am in desperate need for help. My laptop HP Pavilion XH365 running
Windows XP kept losing display so after re-seating DRAM, and
re-setting processor, I decided to apply new BIOS update that I
downloaded from HP website. While installing BIOS update, computer
froze, and when i tried to re-start, nothing happens. I have pulled
apart whole notebook, however, I can't find the BIOS battery... Does
anyone know where I will find the BIOS battery, so I can reset the
notebook.

If you think pulling the battery and putting it back in laptop will
not help, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help in advance.

This computer is 800Mhz Pentium III, with 20GB IDE drive and 256Mbps
RAM. This machine was running Xp, when I was able to access it :-(

Shoaib.

My thought is that you'll need factory help, your BIOS is
probably beyond self-help.

If you ever get an incomplete "bios flash", and restart/shutdown the
computer, you are screwed. Send the computer back to the manufacturer. I
would never flash a bios without having complete knowledge about what I am
doing, OR without the computer being connected to a UPS.

Pulling the battery will likely be useless, as you more than likely have
"screwed the pooch" with a bad flash. You will need professional help at
this point to recover the system. If you have a backup copy of the original
BIOS and are able to boot a floppy, you might try restoring it, but I have a
feeling you are beyond that point.

Thank You. I will try HP support.... hopefully they won't charge me
more than my laptop's worth.

This is why most people don't recommend flashing the BIOS unless it will
fix a specifc problem. A bad BIOS flash often results in shipping the unit
back to the Mfg for a new BIOS.
