Correct order to perfrom ADMT v2 wizards and Exchange mailbox migration

Dan Adams

What is the correct order to perform the ADMT v2 wizards, when
performing an interforest (Win2K to Win2K) migration? I've got an
exchange 2000 server and romaing profiles. I wish to migrate the user
and computer accounts in stages, while retaining access to the shares
and profiles on a server in the source domain (this should move last?)
I'll be using the Exchange Mailbox migration wizard (outside ADMT) to
move mailboxes. At what point should I perform this step?

Dan,

The information you are looking for is detailed in the following article:
328871 HOW TO: Use the Exchange Migration Wizard to Migrate Mailboxes From
an
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=328871

Here is an excerpt from the article:

The following two procedures describe the recommended ways that you can use
the ADMT in conjunction with the Migration Wizard to import user accounts
and their corresponding mailboxes:

- Use the ADMT to migrate user accounts with the SID and create user
accounts in Active Directory that are turned on, and then use the
Migration Wizard to import mailbox information.

- Use the Migration Wizard to import mailbox information and create
user accounts in Active Directory that are turned off, use the ADMT to
import user accounts into Active Directory, and then use the Active
Directory Cleanup utility (ADClean) to remove duplicate account
information.
