how to install corel linux 1 on a win xp ,achine....the cd is bootable
installer runs and then freezes at "starting corel linux".... pc seems to be
doing something but never continues...any help appreciateed

Check the system requirements of your software package. It is designed to
install and run in Linux - not Windows.

You can't run Linux on XP. You need to setup a dual boot or wipe XP off the
system completely and install Linux in it's place. To replace XP with Linux
just restart the computer with the Linux CD and follow the on screen prompts
but BE AWARE that this will completely overwrite your drive and all data on
it will be lost. You will be running Linux when you are finished.

If you wish to setup a dual boot with Windows and Linux you will need to
repartition your drive. This too will cause you to lose all data on your
current XP setup unless you use a third party app like BootIt NG. For dual
boot scenarios with Windows and Linux your best option is to acquire a
second hard drive and install Linux to it then use your BIOS to switch which
drive to boot off.

There are a number of Linux forums that you should consult with that can
help you. Be forewarned that setting up a dual boot between Windows and
Linux can be a daunting task.

Sounds like your CD may be bad if it's not a hardware incompatibility.
Suggest you either redownload and burn the cd image from the Corel website,
or request a new cd if you purchaesd it from them.
