cordless mouse problem

I installed a logitech ex110 cordless keyboard/mouse on a new system
build and it worked fine. After an unrelated problem which I just
fixed, the mouse no longer displays a cursor. I can move the mouse
around and see when it goes over and highlights stuff, but their is no
arrow pointer. What do I do? I already tried resetting, connecting and
rebooting.

And when you solve the ex110's incredibly short battery life for the mouse
and the keyboard let us all know.
