I have a catalogue on a work sheet that I want to want to copy into
next years accounts in another book. It seems I can copy within the
same book, but I cannot copy to another books, except copy/paste. Has
Excel got the facility please?

Hi Rod

confused how you're copying in the same book without using copy / paste ...
do you mean copy the sheet using Edit / Move or Copy sheet ... if so, you
can copy into another book ... either a blank one or an open one - by
selecting it from the drop down of the Edit / Move or Copy Sheet dialog.

I have yearly accounts for my small business. I have all my work in
work sheets in the same book.

I have a catalogue with a certain amount of formatting. I want to copy
it from work book 2004 in work book 2005. So I can forget the first
book., and work from the new one which will include the worksheet
'catalogue'

Am ai asking too much, making a simple job complicated. No expert, I
am at your mercy.... be kind

Hi Rod

open both workbooks
have the 2004 book active
click on the catalog sheet
choose
edit / move or copy sheet
from the drop down up the top choose your 2005 book
choose the catalog sheet in the box underneath the drop down box
TICK the create a copy tick box - *****don't forget to do this
click OK
your screen will most probably flick so that the 2005 book is now active
with the new sheet

Let us know how you go

Cheers

Ps as always before trying something new, make a backup copy of your
workbooks :)

Hello...yes, you can do it.

You need to have both the old book and new book open. then, go to the
old book and right click on the worksheet you want to move...on the
list, there will be move or copy, select it.

A popup box comes up and gives you a drop down selection of the book
you want to send it to. (select your new new book name from the list)

It then gives you an option of where you want that sheet to appear in
the new book...choose your preference.

Then there is a checkbox to create a copy...if you want the sheet to
be in both places, then make sure it is checked...if you want to move
it out of the old book and into the new, then make sure it is
unchecked.

That is it!
