Copying from computer to DVD? CD?

I downloaded a movie (legally) from a pay site. Now I want to copy that
movie onto a DVD or CD. My question is: 1) Do I use a CD or a DVD to copy
to? 2) Should they be 'R', RW' or something else? 3) In Windows Movie
Maker Ithought I was doing it right but evidentally I wasn't because I kept
getting an unknown error message saying that the movie was not copied. Is
there anywhere I can get directions on how to successfully do this?

Thanks

You might not need Movie Maker at all... it's just used if you want to do
some editing of the movie...

Movie Maker can't make CDs or DVDs that are playable on stand-alone DVD
players... you need to use other disc making software. If that software can
handle what you downloaded, and no editing is needed, start with it and not
Movie Maker.

the type of disc is determined by your disc burner, and by what your player
can read.... it's good to do a little testing

Ok...thanks for the reply. I guess I was thinking that just because I had
Movie Maker that I could download movies and immediately make copies of them
to watch on my DVD player. From reading some other posts I guess I need to
get some other type of program for that.

Yes you do.
Check out the "DVD Creation" page on my website for a list of popular
programs along with download links. Most of them offer a free trial download
that will complete the DVD for you so you can see which program you like
best.
