Copying files to USB flash drive

I have a Pentium III 1gig, 384mb RAM running Windows XP SP2
I just got a Kaser 1.5 gig Jumbo Drive as a gift. It's a USB flash drive
(it's USB1). It is working perfectly fine, unless I try copying over a very
large file (714 mb). I'm trying to take a vacation movie up to my parents
house.
When I try to copy the file, the file copy stops after about 2 minutes and
it says "Cannot copy homemovie.avi: Cannot find the specified file". The
light on the flash drive goes out and the Jumbo shows that it is full (zero
free space).

I have tried editing the drive properties to change it's write caching from
"optimize for quick removal" to "optimize for performance". When I choose
performance it still fails but I get a different error message. It says
"Delayed write failed".
Any suggestions? Any copy utilities I could try?

Sorry - correction. The Jumbo Drive is USB 1.1 and 2 compatible - my
computer has USB1.

Just a guess.
Try creating a folder on the flash drive. If you cannot create a folder, try
moving some files off the drive until you can. Then try to copy the move to
the folder.

Sorry, not got any answers.

I get exactly the same symptoms. The only way to recover the drive and see
what has actually copied over is to eject it via the 'safely remove...'
feature and re-insert it.

But I am at a loss as to what is causing it to happen in the first place. My
XP Home Edition is fully patched up to date.

It doesn't happen if I use a USB 1 port (I have USB 1 and 2).
