Has anyone got the answer to this frustrating problem.
When copying fies using drag and drop to a CD RW disc the
files when opened on the disc have been tagged READ ONLY
which means I cann't work on them in the office. I have
tried save as option but this doesn't work. Any ideas???

You would need packet writing software like Roxio Direct CD, Drag to Disk,
Nero InCD, or DLA from Stomper installed on all computers you use to edit
the files. Otherwise save the file to the hard drive edit it and save as to
the CD.

By definition, files on the CD RW are "readonly". I think (but did not
test this) that you can copy the files from CD to hard disk, and then
remove the read-only setting via the file properties in Explorer and
all will be ok.

That's the way to do it yes (right click the file(s), properties, untick
the 'read only' box.

The smart way around this is to 'zip' all the files into one archive (I
use Winzip), move =that= to the CD, and then unzip the other end - the
..zip
file itself will be read only, but all the things that you unzip from it
will have their original attributes restored.

The method used by the inbuilt burning does not write files in a 'CD-RW'
method whereby they can be individually accessed for updating or
deleting, but writes a whole batch as a 'session'. This means that the
disk can only be erased as a whole. The files are thus intrinsically
read-only, and marked as such. Read more at
