copying exe or zip files to another network computer

Unsuccessfully trying to copy exe or zip files from an XP Home desktop
to an XP Pro laptop. All necessary permissions granted, and all other
files copy fine. The files are program setup files, *not* program
files. They can neither be dragged to the target file, nor copied to
them. The error message is "Cannot copy [file name]. Access is denied.
Make sure the desk is not full or write-protected and that the file is
not currently in use", None of these conditions is in effect. Is there
a rule that says I can't copy exe or zip files between network
computers, even when they're not program files? (I tried changing the
extensions, e.g., to .txt, but that didn't work either.)

Thanks.
Jean

This isn't a problem we can deal with. Try posting in XP.general, we
don't deal with home-user versions of the OS here.
