Copying "Desktop.ini" files

I am in the process of backing up files to an NEC DVD drive. Running Windows
XP Home SP2. Every time the copying gets to "desktop.ini" file, the process
fails and windows without warning stops functioning completely! Any ideas?
 
These are special files that may be opened in XP. Depending on the backup
software, you may not be able to backup opened files. What software are you
doing the backup with?
