copying and pasting hyperlinks from web URL

Have new XP Prof SP 3
Previously could copy and paste URL (writing in Word Doc) from web page.
Hit paragraph bar and the "hyperlink" would immediately become "active"
Seems with new install copied URL link does not become active.
I don't know where to look to activate the ability to accomplish this.
 
The conversion of plain text to a hyperlink is part of the AutoFormat As You
Type feature.

Go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type and check the box
for "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks".

Thank you for you reply...followed thru; fround box already checked, but unchecked and re-checked; closed and then found that the process worked properly.
