copying Access CD using XP

This is not really an Access question, but now that I have
the Access CD I want to make some copies of it.
Do I need software other than xp to make a copy of
a CD. Of course you need copies of the CD in case
something happens to the original.

if you dont know how to copy a cd, i suggest you not worry about ms access
and go learn some basics

I dont need any smart aleck answers here. I know
how to do it with Linux, but I am wondering how to
do it with XP.

You need to ask yourself a question: Do you want to copy just the data
off the CD (probably not what you want) or do you want an EXACT copy of
your CD that will function exactly the same as your current one (i.e.
you put the CD in and it has an Autorun function, etc)?

I believe you want an exact copy. In order to make an exact copy you
will need software that can make .ISO files. Do a google search for
..iso files and you can learn all about them and the software to do
them. Be aware that there is free software that will do this before
you buy. The same software should offer you an option to burn the .iso
to disc.

If all you want is the data off the disc, then you can use this method:

There is a cdburn.exe and dvdburn.exe utility from
Microsoft, but how to extract the iso images from the
disk? Doesnt MS offer such a utility? I am going to try
to use my debian box to grab the iso image and than
make copies using the cdburn.exe as the debian box
has no burner.

Yep, that would work, as an .iso is an .iso, irregardless of whether
its on Linux or Windows. And no there is no handy program from MS that
will rip .iso images. Probably because of the possible copyright
infringement implications. But I really thiink you should just google
for .iso programs for Windows, maybe save yourself a step in the
process.
