copy = shutdown

When a user chooses to copy something within word (any way
ie. right click, Ctrl & C or from the tool bar) it logs
the user right out of windows and takes them to the log on
screen.

This happens in 2K and NT. It happens intermittentley. I
have created a new profile for the user, have done all
windows updates including latest services pack for Office.

Any one run into this or have any ideas how to fix it?

There are no viruses present on the network in any of our
locations this happens in three different locations and
has occured for at least a year.

You'll maybe get better help with a better system description.
Does this happen, for instance, when machines are logged off
the net running standalone? Are these files on a server?

Perhaps a Word newsgroup would be a better place to post...
