Copy/Paste

Hi Group,

I have a worksheet with a formula in cell G23:
=((SUMIF($A$9:$A$19,A31,$G$9:$G$19)-SUMIF($A$9:$A$19,A31,$F$9:$F$19))/SUMIF($A$9:$A$19,A31,$F$9:$F$19))

I go into the formula editing box next to f*, highlight the formula and copy
it. When I go down the sheet to paste it, it pastes into several cells:
=((SUMIF($A$9:$A$19 A23 $G$9:$G$19)-SUMIF($A$9:$A$19 A23 $F$9:$F$19))/SUMIF($A$9:$A$19 A23 $F$9:$F$19))
The above has cut the formula up and pasted it into 7 different cells?

I have seen Excel do some pretty strange things, but I have never seen it do
this. Simple CTRL+C and CTRL+V.

Anyone have any idea what is happening and why?

Thanks,
David

Hi,

Here is a simple solution - move to the cell where you want the formula,
click the formula bar and choose Paste.

Your problem is occuring because Excel remembers the last time you did Text
to Columns or used the Import Wizard.

Hi,

I can't seem to replicate the problem this morning, maybe because I have
shut the computer down overnight. What you indicate seems reasonable. Never
had it happen before, but there was VBA used and one of the processes was a
text to columns operations.

Thanks for your input.
