copy & paste

I am using office 2002.I have an excel workbook with
columns for dates.When I copy data from the workbook to a
new excel workbook the dates in the columns change to 1999.

The workbook you copy from is using the 1904 date system
(tools>options>calculations)
you can set the new one using the same system or you can put 1462 in an
empty cell in the new workbook,
copy it, select the range with 1999 dates and do edit>paste special and
select add
