Copy/paste in Word 2002

I recently got a new computer with Word 2002 - somewhat different than 97 on
my old one.

My question - I am having trouble copying from another application into
Word - unless I have already launched Word, I can't paste text that I have
copied onto the clipboard. I need to open Word and THEN copy the text in
order to be able to paste it into the Word doc. Is there a way around this -
so that I can copy, then open Word if I decide that's where to paste, and
then paste in the text? Small problem - but annoying.

Thanks.

If you have Works as well as Word on that computer, uninstall the
Works Add-in for Word. It has the nasty side-effect of clearing the
clipboard while starting Word. There are a few other add-ins that do
the same, but Works is the prime suspect.

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and the Works Addin is a separate
listing. Select it and choose Uninstall.

: Thanks Jay - I do have both. How do I uninstall that particular feature?
