You can simply link to the existing GPO (in the other OU) if you need to use
the same exact policy settings.

You can backup and existing GPO and then import that GPO's settings into
another GPO. However that will import all settings if you have more defined
other than security policy settings. You also can go the security settings
categories of a GPO - Account Policies, Local Policies, and Event Log and
right click any one of those, select copy and then you can paste to the same
place in a different GPO. --- Steve

I am getting folder redirection errors 'access denied' so all I want to do is
copy the correct tick boxes into a new GPO, leaving all other permissions etc
behind. Using the import as suggested brings the problem with it. Copying
from "Account Policies, Local Policies, and Event Log" will not copy things
like 'remove run from the start menu' ....will it? Am I doing it wrong?

thanks

Copying Account Policies, Local Policies, and Event Log is good only if you
are interested in copying security policy settings. To copy the whole Group
Policy you need to backup the Group Policy via GPMC you want to import. Then
go to your new blank GPO and select import which will prompt you to point to
the backed up GPO. I believe that this will clear any existing settings in a
current GPO. problems with redirected folders can often be permissions
problems. Make sure that the user has both full control and is owner of
their folder to see if that helps. --- Steve
