copy formatting problems

When I copy text from a Word 2003 document to another Word 2003 document all
the text is underlined which wasn't the case in the original document. This
is a consistent problem in cutting/copying and pasting text. How can I fix it
so there is no underlining appearing from nowhere?

Sounds like you have Track Changes turned on, with the default underlining
selected as formatting for inserted text. If that's not the issue, see
