Copy file and retain last modified date

M

Micky M.

I need to copy a large archive of documents from one PC to another but need
to retain the "last modified" dates attributed to the original files to the
new copies. XP by default sets that "last modified" dates on the new copies
to the date at which the copy is made. Is there any way of retaining the
original dates on the copied files?

Thanks for your help.

How are you copying?

In Windows Explorer when I copy and paste dates are not changed? This is so whether from one folder to another or from hard drive to floppy or to CD or in reverse!

Gerry,

You are quite right. That works fine. I was using a utility to copy from one
PC to another. I will just have to use cut and paste.

Many thanks for your advice.
